Adapted by R. Rex Stephenson with original music by Emily Rose Tucker
Charles Dickens’Cricket On The Hearth centers on a memorable group of people. John Peerybingle, a carrier, lives with his wife Dot, their baby, their nanny Tilly Slowboy, and a mysterious lodger. Suspicion begins to mar this idyllic family whose life frequently intersects with that of Caleb Plummer, a poor toymaker employed by the miser Mr. Tackleton. Caleb has a blind daughter Bertha, and a son Edward, who travelled to South America. As these people learn about one another, the audience comes to realize the power of true love.
